Reconditioning faulty cathode ray tube (CRT)

The method involves cutting away the neck fo the faulty CRT. Gaseous carbon dioxide is introduced into the bulb to convert barium hydroxide or barium hydrate, precipitated on the CRT inner structure, into carbonate. The CRT is then heated to expel the gaseous carbon dioxide. Suitable getter material is introduced into the CRT, followed by hermetic reclosure (neck welding). Then follows evacuation and ignition of the getter. Preferably the carbon dioxide contains at least 50% humidity, obtained by bubbling gaseous carbon dioxide through water.
