PURPOSE:To obtain the inorganic fibrous refractory brick excellent in thermal shock-resistance, etc., by mixing heat-resistant inorganic fiber granules, refractory inorganic powder and colloidal silica in a specific weight ratio, adding water to the mixture, molding the wet mixture and subsequently burning the molded product. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic fibers such as alumina fibers good in heat resistance are passed through rotary blades engaging with each other in a comb-like state for their cutting and grinding, shaped into granules, while being rotated on a rotary sieve, and subsequently subjected to a method such as sieving to produce the heat-resistant inorganic fiber granules. 30-70wt.% of the fiber granules, 0-50wt.% of refractory inorganic powder (e.g. alumina powder) and 10-30wt.% of colloidal silica are mixed with each other, mixed with water, molded into a brick-like shape and subsequently burned at 1200-1400 deg.C to produce the inorganic fibrous refractory brick. Since the obtained refractory brick is uniformly reinforced in the non-directed state with the woolly fiber granules substantially not causing the orientation of the fibers in the direction of the surfaces in the press-molding process, only small cracks are produced even when the brick receives thermal shock by heating or cooling, and the cracks do not grow large. |
