The roller (1) has a tubular jacket (3). A tubular element (6) for bearing and/or fastening the roller to a shaft (11) is concentric to the longitudinal axis (2) of the jacket. The space between the inner surface (5) of the jacket and the outer surface (7) of the bearing element, is filled with a foam (10) which can harden, in order to connect the jacket to the bearing element. The volume of the foam alters when it is inserted into the space, and the sides of the latter may be closed off by end plates (12,13).
