The electrical adapter (1) is used between a plug socket provided by the tractor vehicle and a plug (14) attached to the trailer vehicle and has a housing (2) providing an inner sleeve (3) with 2 spaced partition walls (5,6) fitted with contact elements (7). The adapter housing has a control rod (12) for opening and closing a contact in the plug socket, which is operated by the insertion of the plug in the rear end of the adapter.
