<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable data to be securely and rapidly recorded with a steadily operating recording head, if some of the recording heads are faulty. SOLUTION: Four pieces of recording head 3 are provided which record a set of data assigned to each of four areas of page memory 10 out of a single unit of image data, and each set of data stored in page memory 10 is assigned to each of recording heads 3 by an image signal assignment circuit 12. In addition, a table has a set pattern for continuing the recording of data with the rest of the recording heads 3 in case some of the recording heads 3 are faulty. The recording heads 3 are examined using a head sensor 6, and the table is retrieved based on the results of the examination to record data using an appropriate recording pattern.</p> |
