PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the plastic optical fiber which has excellent flexibility in spite of a large diameter and can suppress the wrinkling of its clad due to bending by forming the outer circumference of a clad in a corrugated shape. SOLUTION: The large-diameter flexible plastic optical fiber 1 which has a large diameter of >=10mm has its center core 2 formed of silicone resin and its outside clad 3 formed of fluororesin. The circumference surface of the clad 3 is formed in a corrugates shape. This plastic optical fiber, therefore, has flexibility excellently adaptive to bending. The boundary surface between the core 2 and clad 3 which contribute to the propagation of light is smooth, so the flexibility is obtained without exerting no effect on the propagation of light. |
