PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy wire for MIG welding capable of improving the stability of arcs and the feedability of the wire by lowering the friction resistance and energization resistance of the wire. SOLUTION: Pores are formed in this aluminum alloy wire for MIG welding by removing the intermetallic compd. by a surface treatment. The max. size of the pores is 4 to 20μm. The total area of the pores existing per 250000μm<2> of the wire surface area is defined as A(μm<2> ) and the contents of components Si, Fe, Mn, Mg and Cr incorporated into the aluminum alloy are defined as [Si], [Fe], [Mn], [Mg] and [Cr] by weight%. The feedability of the wire is then further improved if A is >=3000μm<2> and K expressed by the numerical formula (K=A/([Si]+[Fe]-+[Mn]+[Mg]+[Cr])) is >=500. |
