MAGNETORESISTANCE EFFECT MAGNETIC HEAD AND MAGNETIC RECORDING REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic head having <=1×10<-6> absolute value of the magnetostriction const. and >=0.6μΩcm change in the resistivity of an anisotropic magnetoresistance effect even when the thickness of the magnetoresistance effect film is <=20nm. SOLUTION: The magnetoresistance effect film is formed to 5-20nm thickness by using an alloy material comprising 60-85wt.% Ni and 15-40wt.% Fe with addition of at least one kind of element selected from among Pt, Ar, Pd by >=1wt.%. The obtd. film has <=50μΩcm resistivity, <=1×10<-6> absolute value of the magnetostriction const. and >=6.0μΩcm change in the resistivity of the anisotropic magnetoresistance effect.
