Continuous process for the production of vinylidene chloride telomers

A process for the continuous production of telomers CCl3(CH2CCl2)nCl where n=1-3 (Formula I) by the continuous reaction of CCl4 and vinylidene chloride in the presence of a solvent and a catalyst. The reaction to form CCl3(CH2CCl2)Cl proceeds at a reaction rate constant k1. If n=1, CCl3(CH2CCl2)Cl is continuously removed from the reactor. If n=2, the removed CCl3(CH2CCl2)Cl reacts similarly with CCl4 and CH2=CCl2 in a second reactor to form and remove CCl3(CH2CCl2)2Cl under conditions to have a reaction rate constant k2, wherein the ratio of the molar amounts of CCl4 to CCl3(CH2CCl2)Cl reacted is greater than the ratio k2/k1. If n=3, the removed CCl3(CH2CCl2)2Cl similarly reacts in a third reactor with CCl4 and CH2=CCl2 to form CCl3(CH2CCl2)3Cl under conditions to have a reaction rate constant k3, wherein the ratio of the molar amounts of CCl4 to CCl3(CH2CCl2)2Cl reacted is greater than the ratio k3/k2.
