PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to avert the coloration occurring in the double refraction of the light passing an STN(supertwisted nematic) type liquid crystal display cell even under a high-temp. enviromnent and to obtain an always good display grade. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display cell 2 of the STN type and a tablet 4 are interposed between a pair of polarizing plates 1 and 5. A liquid crystal layer 21 for compensation for canceling the wavelength dispersion by the double refraction of the light passing the liquid crystal display cell 2 is intervened between the opposite electrodes 15 and 16 for coordinate detection of the tablet 4. Nonconductive spacer particles 23 and conductive particles 24 are incorporated into the liquid crystal layer 21 for compensation.
