<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid golf ball consisting of a solid core, cover, and dimples wherein spin characteristics are made preferable and controllability of an iron is improved by arranging the dimples so as to satisfy a specific equation. SOLUTION: In a solid golf ball consisting of a solid core, a cover formed on the solid core, and dimples 2 formed on the surface of the cover, the dimples 2 are arranged so as to satisfy (the number of dimples)×(the ratio of an area which is not occupied by the dimples)/(Shore D hardness of the cover)=1.4 to 1.9. In this case, the number of the dimples 2 is set to a range from 330 to 440, the diameter of each dimple 2 is set to a range from 1.0 to 6.5mm, and the ratio of the area which is not occupied by the dimples 2 is set to a range from 0.20 to 0.35. Consequently, an inherent carry of the solid golf ball is maintained and the controllability of approach can be improved.</p> |
