The telescopic steering shaft comprises two cylindrical tubular shaft parts (2,3) which can slide one in the other. An elastic lug (6) enables adjustment of the play between the shaft parts. One end of this lug has a fixing (7) on one of the shaft parts and the other end has a support (8) on the other shaft part. The lug fixing comprises a washer (9) with radially projecting anchoring lugs (10) which engage around the corresponding shaft part. The support comprises two angularly displaced support zones (11,12).
