The safety cap is made in two sections - a threaded cap (11) with a skirt, and a spring ring (8). Its lock/release element is formed by a movable shutter (5) in the cap, equipped with a locking pin (4) at its lower end which has a chamfered tip (19) to engage with a notch (3) in the wall of the container. The cap can only be unscrewed after the locking pin has been disengaged by pressing in inwards, while the spring ring (8) inside the cap returns the pin to its locked position in the notch once the cap is replaced. The spring ring is made separately from the cap, or in one piece with it from injection-moulded plastic, and it fits over the threaded neck of the container beneath the cap.
