The unfolding direction of the airbag is orientated towards the head of the driver. The shape of the airbag is arranged so that the sides of the head area are immediately enveloped, and the chest area is covered to prevent the driver's neck from being fractured. With unintentional release the driver still has limited forward vision. With non-elastic airbag material load protection is controlled by an incorporated over-pressure valve with an established limiting value.
