Optical conductor metal sleeve welding system

The welding system is used to join the longitudinal edges (BK1,BK2) of a metal band to form a reception sleeve (RO1) for one or more optical conductors (LW1,..LWn) and/or a filling mass (FM). The welded sleeve is contacted in the welding range by a solid cooling body (KK) for external cooling of the sleeve. The cooling body may have a dry contact surface acting against the outside of the welded sleeve and contacts between 60 and 90 percent of the outer periphery of the sleeve.
