The vehicle door lock system has two modes of locking; one setting in which the main catch is locked but the lock can be opened by lifting the control buttons on the inside of the door, and one setting in which the lock is secured and release buttons are blocked. A motion sensor detects movement inside the vehicle and moves the lock setting into first mode. The safety release of the lock into the first mode occurs if the motion sensors detect movement within a set time after locking the doors. If movement is detected only after a second set time interval this signifies an intruder. The control system then sets the locks into the second, secure mode.
