Connector providing fluid-tight seal for pipelines e.g. carrying and placing concrete

A connector seals pipeline sections fluid-tight and allows relative rotation between pipes. A clamp holds a sealing ring under mechanical pressure, which surrounds base rings (12, 12') over the adjacent ends (9, 9') of the pipe (6, 6'). Facing recesses (14, 14') of the base rings accept a sealing ring (15). A clamp (7) presses the latter into the recesses. Preferably base rings are glued on, and are clamped on the side and end faces. The recesses are located in the radially outer surfaces. The base rings also have radial inner webs, covering part of the pipe end faces. Further refinements include a pre-tensioning ring (18). The clamping ring is a shell coupling. Radially outward projections (9, 9') at the end of the pipes secure the coupling. The base rings (12, 12') are plastic, preferably polyamide.
