CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING COMPOSITION

A new type of cholesterol-lowering composition useful as a drug, which comprises a pharmacologically effective amount of a thiazolo[3,2-a]azepine derivative of general formula (I) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmacologically acceptable carrier wherein R<1> is hydrogen or a a thiol-protecting group; R<2> is hydrogen, lower alkyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heteroaryl, lower alkoxy or lower alkylthio; R<3> and R<4> are each independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, optionally substituted aryl or optionally sustituted heteroaryl, or alternatively R<3> and R<4> together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded may form a ring; R<5> and R<6> are each independently hydrogen or lower alkyl; R<7> is hydrogen or a carboxyl-protecting group; and n and m are each independently 0, 1 or 2.
