The method involves positioning a cover on the container, while the cover has a first and second opening in it, followed by overlying each of the battery's elements. The first opening lays near one side of the battery on one side of a centre line of the battery and the second opening lying near another side of the battery opposite the one side and on the opposite side of the centre line. The method further entails laying the battery on the one side such that the second opening is above the first opening, with subsequent introducing electrolyte into the container through the first opening. The electrolyte is then allowed to capillary rise throughout the element so as to wet the entire internal surface of the mats.
