摘要 Chiral benzene derivatives of formula (I) are new. L1, L2, L3 = F or H; X1, X2 = O or a single bond; R1*, R2* = a chiral radical containing at least one 1-15C alkyl chain in which one or more non-adjacent CH2 groups may be replaced by O or CH=CH; A1, A2 = 1,4-phenylene (optionally having 1 or 2 CH groups replaced by N and optionally substituted by 1 or 2 fluorine atoms), 1,4-cyclohexylene (optionally having 1 or 2 CH2 groups replaced by O or S), thiadiazole-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-bicyclo2.2.2octylene; Z1, Z2 = COO, OCO, OCH2, CH2O, CH2CH2, CH=CH, C?=C or a single bond; l = 0-2; m, n = 0 or 1; provided that, when L1, L2 and L3 are all H, at least one of R1* and R2* is a chiral radical in which at least one CH2 group has been replaced by CH=CH. Also claimed are: (1) a liquid crystalline medium (LCM) including at least one compound of formula (I); and (2) an electro-optical display and an active matrix liquid crystal display containing the LCM.
