The disclosure relates to a method of allocating transmitters of a tyre pressure monitoring system comprising a pressure measuring sensor, transmitter and transmitting antenna on each of N wheels of a vehicle, at least one receiving antenna allocated to those elements on the vehicle body and a connected receiving and evaluation electronic system, as belonging to its own vehicle, by assigning an identifier for each wheel, transmission of signals containing the identifier and forwarding of the signals to the central receiving and evaluation electronic system. The following process steps are involved: recording of the intensities of the signals received by each receiving antenna and originating from different transmitters with their identifiers; comparison of the intensities of signals carrying different identifiers received at one and the same receiving antenna in such a way as to take account of a number of signals received consecutively; selection of N transmitter identifiers found in the signals occurring with the greatest intensities at a receiving antenna; saving the N transmitter identifiers in the central receiving and evaluation electronic system.
