Sliding wedge-type bearing to accommodate thermal expansion

The sliding fastening may be used in construction of a heat engine and may be designed to resist dismantling there are wedge-shaped sliding members (3,5) in contact, or separated by a sliding plate. The wedges are fastened respectively to a foundation plate (8) and a part (4) of the housing of the machine. There is an adjustment screw (14) with a locking nut (15) to push the upper wedge sideways to give a measure of height adjustment. There are bores (1) through the two wedges to accommodate temporary bolts used during the assembly process.
