Folding device for printed sheets

The folding device has drivable pre-folding and squeeze rollers (1-4) arranged in pairs in parallel in succession in the fold direction (A). A first pre-folding roller (1) and squeeze roller (3) are positioned on connecting arms (7) and a second prefolding roller (2) and squeeze roller (4) are mounted rotatable but locally fixed. The connecting arms can be placed with their two end areas through spring tension against locally fixed stops (8a,10) which are positioned so that the opposing prefolding and squeeze rollers do not touch. One stop is in the fold direction behind the bearing (3a) of the first squeeze roller and the other stop (10) is at the inlet area of the pre-folding rollers so that swivel movement of the first folding roller about the bearing causes automatic swivel movement of the first squeeze roller in the same direction adjusting to the rolling gap (s') at the squeeze rollers.
