Colour information coding method for television or computer display

The coding method has the colours of the individual colour pixels of the image information each converted into one or more colour values, using at least two different coding methods, used in alternation, with the storage and/or transmission of the colour values. At least one of the coding methods is provided by a red-green-blue coding method, with a low quantisation error and a gamma correction. The other coding method preferably codes the colour via a luminance and two chrominance values.
