A device for isolating drinks containers (5) of circular cross-section conveyed in a track (6) parallel to one another and with their axes of rotation aligned vertically is used for a desired separation (A) between initially contiguous containers. The device has a continuously circulating compartmented belt (1) which is provided with carrier elements (4) on a drive member (2) running inthe direction of transport and to one side of and at a distance from the separation (A), said carrier elements being parallel and standing away from the drive member when the latter is running straight, and to which the track is fed to run parallel to the belt in the engagement region of the carrier elements. The device is characterised in that the carrier element are aligned to extend obliquely forwards in the direction of transport from their attachment points, and the track in the region where its engages with the carrier elements runs at an acute angle ( alpha ) to the direction of transport, said angle being no more than about 90 DEG minus the slant angle.
