A connector between a separating element (1) of a multilayer head box forward end in a paper machine and the base piece (2) of the forward end comprises at least one tensioned mounting (3) in base or separating element; at least one gripping connector (7) for the tensioned mounting in the component, i.e. separating element or base, to be connected by it; and at least one unit (4) that can transmit a retaining force to the tensioned mounting, where one of the components for a part of its length engages a cavity (11) in the other. The tensioned mounting and the gripping connector part are so shaped that the retaining force simultaneously exerts a spreading effect on the component present in the cavity.
