Cattle or pig manure is homogenised in a pit or silo, to which saturated fermented waste (kieselguhr) is added, e.g. from a brewery. Preferred addition of kieselguhr containing 70-80% water is 0.05-0.1 litre per litre of manure. The organic solid and liquid content of the manure is converted into a thin-flowing substance and the conversion of organic nitrogen into ammonia is retarded, reducing odour. The process renders manure into a state suitable for pumping, spreading etc. |
