PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent misoperation to other operating members arranged at the armor part of a camera main body without impairing the excellent operability of a focal distance switching operation member by inclining the operating direction of the focal distance switching operation member to the optical axis direction of a photographing lens in a camera. SOLUTION: The focal distance switching operation member 4 arranged to be operated and displaced in a direction other than a direction perpendicular to the upper surface of the camera main body 1 and operated in a desired direction to generate a focal distance switching direction signal for switching the focal distance of the photographing lens is disposed. The member 4 is set so that the operating direction may be inclined toward the back surface side of the main body 1 by a specified angleθfrom the longitudinal direction of the main body 1, that is, from a line along a line B. Thus, the misoperation of a release button 3 in the case of operating the member 4 or the misoperation of the member 4 in the case of operating the button 3 is prevented.
