<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the misoperations of a portable terminal equipment with its back lights kept turned off just by turning on the back light as the first input operation carried out to an input part while the back light kept turned off and then validating the operations of the terminal equipment from the next input operation. SOLUTION: If a user forgets to turn off the back lights 3 and 5 of a portable terminal equipment in a bright environment, both lights 3 and 5 are compulsively turned off by means of an illuminance sensor 6 for reduction of the power consumption. Furthermore, the lights 3 and 5 are automatically turned off by a timer 8 even in a dark environment when the terminal equipment is not operated for a fixed time or longer. When the user tries to perform an input operation in the automatic turn-off mode, the user is unable to identify an input part 4 and a display part 2 since the lights 3 and 5 are kept turned off. Therefore, both lights 3 and 5 are just turned on as the first input operation and no input processing is carried out so as to prevent the misoperations. When both lights 3 and 5 are turned on, the parts 4 and 2 can be correctly identified and therefore accurately operated.</p> |
