A two dimensional digital filter whose vertical sampling rate is 1:N is provided, the filter filtering an input signal x(n) having video information with the filter degree of P which is a positive odd number larger than 1. The digital filter includes a line delays 3 and 4 for sequentially delaying the input signal by first and secondary lines when the vertical sampling rate is 1:2 and filter degree is 5, a first one dimensional filter 5 for receiving the input signal, input signal delayed by the secondary line and data 0 to carry out one dimensional filtering, a second one dimensional filter 6 for generating an even line output through the one dimensional filtering employing the input signal, input signal delayed by first line and data 0 as its input, and a third one dimensional filter 7 for generating an odd line output through one dimensional filtering employing the input signal delayed by the first line, data 0 and output of the first one dimensional filter 5 as its input. |
