PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyethylene oxide composition having excellent heat resistance and moldability and useful for a film, various molded products and a masterbatch for improving other thermoplastic resins, etc., by blending polyethylene oxide with a specific amount of an imidazole-based peroxide decomposing agent and melt-kneading. SOLUTION: This polyethylene oxide composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polyethylene oxide (e.g. the one having >=70,000 average molecular weight) with (B) >=2 pts.wt. of an imidazole-based peroxide decomposing agent such as 2-mercapto (methyl)benzimidazole (zinc salt), and further as necessary, with (C)∞1 pt.wt. of a phenolic antioxidant such as N,N'- hexamethylenebis (3,5-di-(t)-butyl-4-hydroxy-hydrocinnamamide), 1,3,5- trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(3,5-di-(t)-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)benzene, and melt-kneading.
