PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel photographic recording material containing a photographic unit in a protected form by incorporating a photographic useful group (photographic unit) in the form of a specified compound. SOLUTION: The photographic recording material contains the photographic useful group (photographic unit, PUG) in the form of a compound represented by the formula, and the material has at least one silver halide emulsion layer and another layer according to circumstances on a support, and at least one of the layers contains the photographic useful group in the protected form. In the formula, PUG is the photographic useful group; A is a strong electron acceptor; V is a vinylene group; L is one or more timing group; each of (m) and (n) is 0, 1, or 2; R<1> is an H atom or a methyl group; R<2> is a 1-18C alkyl or aryl group; and each of R<3> and R<4> is an H atom or an organic group.
