摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inhibitor of a nitrogen monoxide synthase (NOS), comprising an aminopyridine derivative as an active ingredient, having inhibiting actions on the NOS and useful for treating and preventing shock, hypotension, chronic articular rheumatism, ulcerative colitis, tumor, etc. SOLUTION: This inhibitor of a nitrogen monoxide synthase comprises a compound represented by the formula (R<1> to R<4> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, OH, SH, a halogen, CF3 , NO2 , CN, Ph, etc., or R<1> and R<2> , R<2> and R<3> or R<3> and R<4> together represent an alkylene; R<5> is H or an alkyl) or its salt as an active ingredient. The compound represented by the formula can be produced by a well-known method and, e.g. 2-amino-4-methylpyridine is commercially available. The inhibitor is systemically or locally and perorally or parenterally administered and the daily dose for an adult is 1-1,000mg at a time administered in one to several divided portions or 100μg to 100mg at a time parenterally, preferably intravenously or intraventricularly administered in one or several divided portions.
