PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the image compression/reproduction method and its equipment by which information representing an important area is not required by sending a picture element conversion coefficient only of the important area and information representing picture element parameters is reduced and an image is compressed more efficiently. SOLUTION: A map information decision means 12 divides image information of one image pattern stored in a storage means 11 into large number of areas with equal area, and decides position map information relating map of a position to other area in the same image operational amplifier for each area. A picture element information decision means 13 decides picture element information in an important area including picture elements with high frequency of use in similar relation in the same image pattern. A 1st changeover control means 14 controls transfer of picture element information to a coding means 17 based on the position map information. A coding means 17 encodes the position map information and the picture element information according to a prescribed conversion equation. Thus, the image compression/reproduction method and equipment are realized, in which the image is compressed with a higher efficiency. |
