DIAMOND ABRASIVE GRAIN COATED WITH GLASSY BINDER AND PRODUCTION OF VITRIFIED BOND GRINDSTONE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grindstone having a higher grinding ratio than that of a conventional grindstone, viewing that a current grinding processing is outstandingly automatized in a factory and demand for save of labor in grinding processing is strong so that more improvement in grinding ratio of a grindstone is strongly required. SOLUTION: In this vitrified bond grindstone obtained by bonding diamond abrasive grain with a glassy binder, the surface of the abrasive grain having 40-400μm average particle diameter is coated with the binder in thickness of 0.05-0.25 the average particle diameter of the abrasive grain. A grindstone produced by using the coated abrasive grain has a structure in which each diamond abrasive grain in the grindstone is coated with the glassy binder and the diamond abrasive grains are mutually fused through the glassy binder.
