<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the excellent water cut-off ability by fitting a hollow body made of rubber, which is provided in the water swelling rubber in the surface thereof and which can be swelled, between members opposite to each other with a clearance, and filling this hollow part with the filling material so as to swell the hollow body, and swelling the water swelling rubber. SOLUTION: In case of connecting a pipe A, of which end is formed with a widened diameter part, and a pipe B, of which end is provided with a spigot 2, a compound seal material 3 is interposed between both taper surfaces of the widened diameter part 1 and the spigot 2. A base of this compound seal material 3 is formed of an annular hollow body 4 made of rubber and having a hollow part 40 , which can be swelled, and installed so as to surround the full circumference of the taper part of the spigot 2. The filing material 6 is fed into the hollow part 4 of the compound seal material 3 by a filling device 10 through a mouthpiece 5, and in the condition that the hollow body 4 is swelled between the widened diameter part 1 and the spigot 2, the water swelling rubber 7, which is provided over the full circumference of the compound seal material 3, absorbs the water of the periphery so as to conclude the cut-off of water.</p> |
