VOLTAGE-DEPENDENT NONLINEAR RESISTOR, MANUFACTURE THEREOF AND LIGHTNING ARRESTOR USING THE RESISTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor in which varistor voltage is improved without degradation of flat ratio of the nonlinear voltage resistor in the region from small current to large current and to obtain a small lightning arrestor mounting the resistor thereon. SOLUTION: This voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor having main component of zinc oxide is made to contain oxide of La rare-earth element (R) which is 0.01mol-3.0% in terms of R2 O3 and aluminum oxide which is 0.0005-0.005mol in terms of Al2 O3 . By the means the voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor in which varistor voltage is improved without degradation of flat ratio in the region from small current to large current is obtained. A lightning arrestor is constituted by using this voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor.
