PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a storage area for a dictionary for storing correspondence between foreign language notation and its YOMIGANA (Japanese pronunciation syllabary printed alongside foreign language characters) and to make it possible to generate YOMIGANA also for foreign language notation not recorded in the directionary. SOLUTION: A pointer is set up to the leading character of a character string expressed by foreign language notation (S10), whether the character pointed out by the pointer is a vowel or not is judged (S11), and when the character is not a vowel, whether the character is 'N' or not is judged (S12). When the character is 'N', the pointer is moved forward only for one character (S16), and when the character is not 'N', whether a character next to the pointed character is a vowel or not is judged (S13). When the succeeding character is a vowel, the pointer is moved forward only for one character (S16). When the character is not a vowel, a vowel is inserted into a space just before the pointed character (S14) and the pointer is moved to a character succeeding the inserted character (S16). When the pointer moved forward exceeds the final character of the character string or not is judged (S17), and when the pointer does not exceed, processing is repeated from the judgement (S11) and Roman characters are converted into KANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) characters (S18) to end the processing. |
