摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cellulose-polyacrylic acid-based highly water-retaining fiber having excellent strength and shape-stability and useful for sanitary material, etc., by mixing a viscose for rayon with a prescribed amount of a polyacrylic acid salt and subjecting the obtained spinning dope to spinning, drawing and scouring. SOLUTION: A cellulose-polyacrylic acid-based highly water-retaining fiber having a water-retention of >=200% and a dry fiber strength of >=0.8g/d is produced by mixing a viscose for rayon with 10-200wt.% (based on the cellulose) of a polyacrylic acid salt and spinning, drawing and scouring the obtained spinning dope. The fiber is preferably a side-by-side conjugate fiber composed of a component uniformly containing the polyacrylic acid salt in the cellulose component and a component composed solely of the cellulose.
