PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate the sufficient braking appropriate for the will of a driver by providing a shift control means for controlling the transmission to a shift stage lower by one step than the target shift stage when vehicle load is at the predetermined negative value or less and an 'engine brake' is effected. SOLUTION: The output signal from a shift stage selecting switch, group of each sensor and an on/off switch 121 of an exhaust brake device are input to a control unit 71, and the appropriate map is selected from a group of shift map by a target shift stage setting means 3, and the target shift stage is set on the basis of the map, which is selected on the basis of the vehicle speed information and the accel open degree information. The target shift stage is corrected on the basis of the will of a driver by an optical shift stage deciding means 1. When a vehicle load, which is obtained by a vehicle load computing means 2, at the predetermined negative value or less is detected, and while an 'engine brake' effected, speed change stage of the automatic transmission is controlled at a shift stage lower by at least one step than the target shift stage. |
