PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cut a character into strokes and a stroke into parts. SOLUTION: In an outline font producing device which expresses a character by an assembly of parts, learning is performed by storing shapes of strokes cut out of the character in a stroke template storage part 2 by means of an operator's operation (step 8a), each character is automatically cut into strokes based on the shapes of stroke templates learned, and the cut shapes are stored in a memory 4 (step 8b). When a character exists which cannot be cut automatically, the stroke shapes cut out of some characters among these by the operator' s operation are stored in the stroke template storage part 2 (step 8c), the strokes are automatically cut out of the characters remaining without being cut based on relearned shapes of the stroke templates. Similarly, the strokes are cut into parts. |
