FIELD: transport engineering; bicycles. SUBSTANCE: proposed bicycle is aimed at providing quick rotation of driving gear. Bicycle is two-wheeled short-frame machine with hand brakes. T-piece mounted in rear part of triangular frame carries saddle supported by three springs. Shaft with sheaves is connected to t-piece. Shaft is welded into front part of frame. Long arc-shaped connecting rods are secured on shaft. Rider rolls the connecting rods by pedals secured on carriages rolling along connecting rods. Cable. Cables are connected to free ends of connecting rods. Shaft rotation mechanism located together with shaft and driving gear above rear wheel is set into motion by means of cable through sheaves. mechanism consists of two noiseless reels - ratchets fitted on shaft and capable of moving in opposite directions owing to re-winding cable coupling the reels. Mechanism operates as follows: when moving in one direction, reel-ratchet gets wedged on shaft and rotates together with shaft and driving gear engaged with driven gear secured on rear wheel rim. Wheel rolls. At the same time other reel released from shaft moves in opposite direction, winding up the cable and lifting opposite connecting rod. When rider presses on other pedal, functions of reels change. Speed rise is provided owing to the following three factors: pedals are arranged closer to rider trajectory of movement of pedals is straightened out; provision of more effective point of action onto rear wheel. All this makes it possible to use rider's weight as force acting onto pedals, to provide efficient use of pedals and force of rider. Reduced size of driving gear and increased size of driven gear reduces load on gear teeth and gear fasteners. EFFECT: improved efficiency of operation. |
