PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small lighting system which can efficiently output a linearly polarized light. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a light guide being a light pipe 12, and almost all of one polarized light component is separated from an orthogonally polarized light component by a polarization separating layer being an anisotropic layer 16 arranged on its one surface. The anisotropic layer 16 is arranged between the light pipe 12 and a reflecting member 14. This layer 16 has a first refractive index not less than a refractive index of the light pipe 12 and a second refractive index less than a refractive index of the light pipe 12. |
