PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapered joint and a manufacturing method thereof that can form a key groove easily in a tapered recessed part only by changing a machining angle. SOLUTION: A timer hub 14 has a cylindrical through-hole 16 formed in a camshaft insert direction, and a tapered recessed part 15 connected being fitted to a tapered protruding part formed at the tip of a camshaft is formed on one opening side of the through-hole 16. A broaching cutter 40 is piercingly inserted in the through-hole 16, and a tilt angle formed by the broaching cutter 40 and the center axis of the through-hole 16 is made smaller than a tilt angle formed by the center axis of the through-hole 16 and the tapered face of the tapered recessed part 15. A second key groove can thereby be formed easily by the broaching cutter 40 without the broaching cutter 40 coming in contact with the internal wall of the timer hub 14 with the through-hole 16 formed. |
