PHENOLIC RESIN COMPOSITION FOR CARBONACEOUS MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phenolic resin composition serving as a carbon source with a high carbonaceous residue percentage by using a specified phenolic resin alone or a mixture thereof and hexamethylenetetramine as the constituents. SOLUTION: This phenolic resin composition consists of a novolak phenolic resin or resol phenolic resin alone or a mixture thereof and hexamethylenetetramine, wherein the adduct ratio of hexamethylenetetramine [calculated by the equation (wherein A is the total amount of hexamethylenetetramine; and B is the amount of hexamethylenetetramine extracted with deionized water)] is at least 30%. The content of hexamethylenetetramine of the novolak phenolic resin or resol phenolic resin alone or a mixture thereof is preferably 2-25wt.%.
