PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical switch which can securely make optical connections between master optical fibers and reception-side optical fibers and is small in connection loss. SOLUTION: A housing 11 is filled with a refractive index matching agent and an optical fiber array member 1, a moving stage 14, a swing arm 6, etc., are arranged; and an actuator 8 which slants the swing arm 6 is provided outside the housing 11. The optical fiber array member 1 has plural V grooves 5 and is arranged slantingly at an angleθwith the opening sides of the respective V grooves 5 down, and the connection end surfaces 15 of the reception-side optical fibers 3 are arranged and fixed in the respective V grooves 5 along the length of the grooves. The master optical fibers 4 are fixed to the moving stage 14, which is moved; and the actuator 8 is driven to slant the swing arm 6 as shown by an arrow A' and then the master optical fibers 4 are fallen in the V grooves 5 and pressed. Consequently, the master optical fibers 4 and reception-side optical fibers 3 are connected having their connection end surfaces opposite each other so that they can freely be switched. |
