PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent condensation from sticking to the surface of a glass plate by a method wherein a square spacer for packaging of glass plate which is hollowed out in the center part from a thermoplastic resin expanded sheet, is formed, and on its one surface, an embossing is applied to form an air penetrating passage by an unevenness. SOLUTION: A spacer 1 for packing of glass plate consists of a center- punched part 2 of which the central part is hollowed out, and outer peripheral parts 3-6. On one surface of the outer peripheral parts 3-6, an embossing is applied, and the difference in unevenness is 30-150μm. By doing so, an air penetrating passage is partitioned so that air in a space being formed by the center- punched part 2 may freely communicate with the outside, e.g. through recessed parts of the embossing. Then, a glass plate and the spacer 1 for packing are alternately superposed sheet by sheet, and when they are packaged using a shrinkable film, etc., an impact stress at the time of transport, etc., is absorbed by the spacer 1, and at the same time, condensation is prevented from sticking to the surface of the glass plate through the air penetrating passage.
