PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molding material for incense which can give a variety in color to the incense and vary the odor of the incense with the passage of time, when the incense is fumigated, by mixing fine powders of Chinese medicines and perfumes different in color and smell. SOLUTION: Fine powders of Chinese medicines and perfumes, vehicles and inorganic components are mixed, a desired pigment and a binder are admixed, they are granulated to form granules of a single color. Then, granules different in color are admixed. The size of the grains is preferably 150-1,300μm. At least two kinds of the grains included in the molding material for incense have the density difference in the range of 0-0.2g/ml and the average particle size or the distribution of particle sizes are preferably in the same ranges. This material is charged in a mold to effect compression molding to give incense. Chinese medicines and perfumes are, for example, aloeswood, agalloch, sandalwood, cinnamon bark, clove, spikenard, frankincense, benzoin and other perfumes from southern Asia.
