PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a modular jack, assembly having a modular jack which is connected to a standard modular plug and is provided with a plurality of terminals being short circuited by different combinations. SOLUTION: A modular jack assembly 2 is composed of a standard modular jack 4 and a short-circuit module 6 which is capable of being attached to the back surface 26 of the jack 4. The module 6 is provided with a plurality of short-circuit contacts 38 formed of U-shaped wire inplanted therein with different combinations and levels desirably. A plurality of different short-circuit modules 6 are prepared, and then a properly selected short-circuit module 6 according to an application is attached to the rear surface 26 of the modular jack 4 and integrated therewith.
