摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently position an optical fiber with respect to an optical module by photographing the optical surface of the optical module by a camera. SOLUTION: Infrared illuminating light supplied from an external infrared light source 15 through the optical fiber 15a is introduced in parallel with the optical axis of an image pickup optical system 13a and illuminates the light emitting surface of a laser diode. Output from an infrared camera 13 is transmitted to an image processor 16 so as to obtain the image of the light emitting surface of the laser diode 12b in an LD assembling body 12 which is photographed through a lens 12a. The obtained image of the light emitting surface is transmitted further to a controller 17 such as a computer or the like, and the controller 17 obtains the roughly optimum position of the optical fiber 19 coupled with the LD assembling body 12 based on the image. The optical fiber 19 is held adjacently to the optical system 13a on an XYZ stage 14, and the controller 17 drives the stage 14 through a triaxial controller 18, whereby the optical fiber 19 is moved to the roughly optimum position.
